Noni- Plethora Of Phytochemicals

Before I begin to write about the various phytochemicals present in noni, let me first put some light on the word Phytochemical. Phytochemicals are the non-nutritive compounds, which are biologically active and naturally occur in plants. Though not the essential nutrients, yet these are believed to have positive effects on the human health. Till date more than thousand phytochemicals have been identified.

A well known example of phytochemical is lycopene in tomatoes, red carrot, watermelon that imparts red colour to the fruits and vegetables and also rich in anti-oxidant activity. Preliminary studies have indicated lycopene has a role in minimizing the risk of cancer especially prostate cancer.

Going by the similar lines, Noni has an arsenal of phytochemicals that makes it a universal health supplement. And the health benefits are due to the synergistic effect of these phytochemicals.
