Morinda Citrifolia,
the Latin name for the Noni plant, grows diversely in and around the regions of
Andaman. However, Tahiti and Marquesas were the first two regions that
contributed towards the growth of the Noni. With the passage of time, the
ontogenesis of the plant increased to regions like Andaman (India). Today, regions like the Caribbean, West
Indies and South America are potential areas, where the Noni Fruit grows. The
fruit is supposedly the balancing agent in the human body, which regularizes
the body and provides the below mentioned benefits.
- Immune Booster
- Anti-inflammatory
- Relief from stress
- Energizing the metabolic system of the human body
- It also acts as an excellent anti-oxidant
In traditional Polynesian, individuals used the plant for
the treatment of cuts, inflammation and even upset stomach. Noni also contains
certain important minerals such as Zinc and copper house. It is also the store
house of important Vitamins, necessary for the overall development of the human
body. However, before getting into the details of the Noni Fruit, it is also important to
understand the structure of the plant.
Noni is barely ten meters in heights, which further consist
of dark leaves. The gray bark and the woody stems lend balance and structure to
the growth of the plant. These plants also have leaves attached, which further
have finely haired centers and give off a sweet smell.
As the plant comes of age, it also produces fruit. These
fruits are water fleshy and a cheesy aroma, which turns pungent, as time passes
by.
